ACI’s Center for Success in High-Need Schools is happy to report that Dr. Gilman Whiting from Vanderbilt University presented “Creating Culturally Responsive Classrooms and Becoming Culturally Competent Educators:Recommendations and Resources” to more than 80 K-12 teachers and teacher educators on September 18, 2009. The lecture was followed by these break-out sessions: 1) Science led by Salim Diab, 2) Classroom Management led by Aisha Mizaur-Pickett, 3) Differentiated Instruction by Tabita Sherfinski, and 4) Teaching Diverse Students by Ayanna Brown. Before the keynote Donna Goodwyn gave a presentation on technology and science resources available to teachers. The next Teacher Induction Academy will be held on December 4, 2009.
