- Center News: ACI's Center for Success SMLC Teams Present at the 2008 Arts & Sciences Colloquium: SMLC projects are ACI member college-high-need school partnerships working to transform how math and science teachers are prepared to teach middle-grade girls from high-need schools, so that girls are better prepared and more inspired to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- Campus Focus: Quincy University/Dewey Elementary School Innovation Project: Students and teacher candidates were taught to use personal data notebooks to set goals and track their own achievement. Teacher candidates were able to co-train and collaborate with experienced educators, engage in action research, analyze data, and interact with parents.
- Campus Focus: Quincy University/Washington Elementary School Innovation Project: Through interactions in classrooms, teacher candidates learn that at-risk students can and do make both academic and social progress when provided with an environment conducive to learning both academic and social behaviors. Teacher candidates learned the importance of creating a close-knit community of learners and the influence of responsible, caring adults in fostering a climate of high expectations coupled with support.
